THE BROADMOOR has engaged David Meyers Associates to advance their culinary heritage. We are currently conducting the search for a proven and mature Banquet Chef to lead one of the busiest private event programs in America.

Scope, Expectations and Requirements

The Banquet Chef will report to the properties Executive Sous Chef and is responsible for the production and successful execution of all Banquet Event Orders. He/she will adhere to established traditions and standards while adding innovation where it fits. He/she shall collaborate with THE BROADMOOR’s Culinary Executive Team to influence future menu programing.  He/she must maintain the highest professional standards for food quality and sanitation and will lead by example building a tightly-knit team dedicated to excellence.

Key Expectations and Goals

The Banquet Chef must:

  • Be hands-on, directly supervising/cooking items requiring skillful preparation.
  • Have excellent culinary skills and team leadership qualities to meet guest expectations.
  • Be an approachable leader – building an effective and efficient culinary team that bond together.
  • Beyond cooking – skilled administratively managing personnel budgets along with accuracy in purchasing and maintaining food inventories and cost control.
  • Leads with presence – monitors performance of assigned staff and ensures that all procedures are completed to department standards.
  • Develop quantity checklists to assure cost margins and to avoid over-or under-ordering.
  • Be personable and interact well with all levels of personnel and guests.
  • Conduct interviews and select restaurant staff and ensure staffing levels are maintained according to guideline.
  • Monitor performance of assigned staff and ensure that all procedures are completed to department standards. Responsible for daily line-ups, weekly management meetings, and monthly staff meetings.
  • Responsible for all disciplinary action using the Human Resources Department as a resource in establishing the appropriate course of action to make each employee successful through coaching and teaching. Prepare and conduct staff reviews and appraisals in a timely manner.
  • Possesses a Culinary Degree and/or successfully completed an ACF Apprenticeship and remains engaged in their career with a focus on the development of their team.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe position requires a strong organized leader who is committed to excellence in all matters. The right individual will be self-motivated, able to build a cohesive team, possess a modern approach to team building and menu planning and continually offer unique and distinctive dining experiences.  Finally, the successful candidate must be a good fit with THE BROADMOOR’s culture. He/she must demonstrate values, conduct and integrity consistent with a 5-Diamond/Star, Michelin acclaimed standards.
